Prepare for Desolation REVIEW 2024

Sometimes, you go to a local show and wind up getting your mind blown by a band from out of state. This is 100% the case for me when it comes to Desolation when I saw them at Shamrock Inn in Parkville, MD. Perhaps you’ve seen them live already at the 2024 Summer Slaughter! Hailing from Philthadelphia, Pennsylvania, Desolation packs quite a devastating punch that will likely leave you leaking jizz all over the breakdown floor and begging for one more song.

Desolation comes armed already with a 6 song EP titled Fragments of You, that’s itching to assault your ear holes, and assault them, it does. This is destructive deathcore debauchery at its finest right here. No skips on this bad boy (and why skip anyway? It’s 6 songs). From start to finish, you’re guaranteed to get your fix of pure brutality. Vocally, we have it all here from sick highs to nasty lows. Musically, we have the brutal chugs, the blast beats, and the sick shreds that’ll kill your dog. What’s not to love?

As if it couldn’t get any better, their recent single “Withered” won’t disappoint you either and gives hint to even more sick tunes on the way. As soon as the song starts, your first thoughts will likely be, “Oh fu-…” The intro is so doomy, I love it. Then it hits you over the head with the first riff so aggressively, you’ll definitely be banging it the whole way through. Special mentions for that lead over the first breakdown and the double bass on the second one.

It’s brutal, it’s unapologetic, it’s Desolation (and it’s not going to be gentle)! Keep your eyes and ears out for them on your music radar because there’s no doubt, you’ll be seeing them in your town soon at the rate they’re going.
